A lot of stuff going on energetically!!! As empaths/intuitives/psychics we tend to be a bit more sensitive to the energies in our environment and sometimes we can take on these energies without realizing it. There are a number of reasons this can happen, but it is interesting to note we are experiencing a lot of cosmic events that contribute to energy disruptions, too.
Cosmically speaking, we heading into Mercury Retrograde on Oct 21, which can be a period of hiccups for communication/travel/commerce. (personally, I enjoy merc retro periods...and I know I am not alone on this! lol)
Also, we have reached the end of the 11 year cycle in which the sun's axis rotates. As this polar shift occurs, the sun will be showering down all sorts of chaotic energies that most of us sensitive types might pick up. This is mostly harmless, but as many of you have felt during times of solar flares, your physical and emotional bodies may experience bouts of discomfort.
These two events alone are enough to throw one out of whack if you aren't aware of proper shielding techniques!
Here are five tips for shielding:
1) Be responsible for the energy you bring to the situation. Hold the intention that you are in control of your own energy; hold the intention that you will not take on any energies that do not belong to you.
2) Wear crystals or create a crystal grid that can help you ground and shield. Some favorites are black tourmaline (which emits negative ions to combat air pollution! This is also a good one for those who are often around electronic devices--which, let's face it, is pretty much most of us!) Also effective is garnet, providing psychic protection, and protection against all things *discordant* while increasing personal strength and willpower. Another personal favorite is amber, which is associated with Earth energy (grounding) and draws dis-ease from the energy body and transmutes it.
3) Space clearing and/or smudging: Smudging is an ancient native technique for purifying the environment of discordant energies and restoring a harmonious vibe. To smudge, one burns sacred herbs while saying a prayer or holding a specific intention to clear the vibes. As a sacred practice, it is wise to understand how to do so properly, applying proper respect to the process.
Space clearing can employ a number of techniques, from using energetic sprays to sounding a bell or using light from a candle to clear out stagnant energy and restore harmony.
I recommend you experiment and find what works best for you in your environment.
4) Mudras. Mudras are hand gestures that manipulate your personal energy to cause a desired state of being. The apan mudra seals off your energy circuits, moving your personal energy to form a "shell" around your body and allows you to emotionally center and refocus. Join the middle finger and the ring finger with the tip of the thumb; the forefinger and the little finger should be held upright. Hold the position for about 1 - 3 minutes. You will notice the shift. This can be done anytime, anywhere.
5) Meditation and/or Yoga. If you have the time to meditate, excellent! Do it! Twenty minutes a day of quiet contemplation, focused meditation or even active meditation has been shown to help manage your energy more effectively.
If you are not sure about trying meditation, have you considered taking a yoga class? Yoga is actually a great escape from the chaos of everyday life and taking the time to be fully present for an hour - 90 minute class is rewarding to your overall health/well-being. You get the physical benefit of exercise, the mental benefit of presence/focus and the spiritual benefits of prana.
Do not stress if you can not fit a full class into your schedule. The point is to use the time for YOU. If it stresses you out, it's not worth it. Try something else that benefits you, like a walk in nature, a little pampering, writing in your journal, or whatever nourishes the whole of your body/mind/spirit.
Journaling is underrated. Three pages a day. If you can commit to that, I guarantee you will learn so much about yourself! Choosing to live a life of heart-centered intentions is one of the most difficult things one can do because many of us are out of balance, steeped in the culture of strict logic and ego.
We come in as newborns on our authentic heart-space frequency of love. As we grow and develop, we are imprinted with programming from our caretakers and society at large. If we are lucky, we have caretakers who understand the importance of nurturing both the heart and the mind, but usually the early imprints we receive place us firmly into the ego-centered frequency of logic.
It's no one's fault, really, but our own. Consider that we require the ego for our basic *physical* survival—key word being physical. The ego is only attached to us in this earthly plane, it does not exist in the energetic. And the ego is necessary, as it helps us to make choices that will ensure our physical survival. If a bear chases me, my ego kicks in and directs me to run or retaliate. If I get too close to a cliff, my ego tells me to walk very carefully so that I don’t fall over the edge. If I smell food that has soured, my ego tells me not to eat it or I may get sick. If I hear the rumblings of the thunderclouds, ego says take shelter. If I sense bad vibes from a person who intends harm, my ego says don’t deal with this person. These are all good and necessary functions of the ego.
However, even though we are living in a 3D reality, we are beginning to remember
that we are also spiritual creatures, of light and of energy (love). This awakening is happening all across the Universe. People are realizing that the mind does not know all that the heart knows, and they are starting to pay attention to the subtle differences and starting to realize that a re-calibration is needed. People the globe over are beginning to choose to live from heart space.
Sometimes we may feel disconnected from our spirit guides and angels—or the world at large/in general-- because we have suffered emotional trauma that leaves us unable or unwilling to express the truth of our soul. These wounds are actually wounds of the ego, but results in shutting down the heart center.
When I was a little girl, a well-meaning teacher criticized a drawing I had created and colored. I was really proud of my work--having used only one green crayon to draw and color what looked (to me) like a beautiful rose, I felt that the shading and coloring was vibrant and pretty. My teacher stood by my desk, looked at my drawing and told me, "everyone knows roses are red and not green!" I looked up and looked around and saw that my neighbor was coloring a beautiful red rose with a green stem, and the that the other kids were coloring with all the crayons, making bright colorful scenes.
My ego kicked in as I looked at my drawing again and saw how ugly it was. My feelings hurt, my ego telling me that i need to do it right, I shut down. And that's how it begins...at an early age, you receive the feedback and you decide then and there you will no longer open yourself to that criticism. These and other narcissitic wounds have a tendency to close down the heart chakras.
The psychic injuries force us out of heart-space and into head-space, where we “think” we have all the answers. But the heart “feels” differently, and perhaps over time you have felt a tugging at those heart strings to take up that old hobby or interest, only to shoot down the notion with ego chatter of “it’s childish” or “get real!”
Because we are living an egocentric lifestyle, allowing it to take the driver’s seat in our decision making processes, including those areas in which the ego has no business directing at all, we have made choices that have helped us in our journeys up to this point. But at this stage in the awakening, the most important thing you can do on this journey called life is to choose to feel into-- and from-- heart center.
Recently I was inspired by this:
Jada Pinkett Smith's facebook page, living like "Tomorrow is not promised."
What a stark contrast to the usual hedonist notion of "live like there is no tomorrow." Reminds me of what I tell my clients: "Don't just live like there is no tomorrow. LOVE like there is no tomorrow!"
This Universe is thread together by the stories that we tell, and everyone enjoys a brilliant Love Story. I think it speaks to the soul’s number one desire-- to be loved.
Love is not something we DO. Love is who we ARE, and in this world of crazy-ass ADD distractions, it is easy to forget this basic truth.
LIVING like there is no tomorrow used to imply succumbing to hedonist pleasures. But I like the notion of LOVING like there is no tomorrow for true happiness. In the end, it is not how much money or cars or toys or possessions you have. These are external things that bring fleeting pleasure and don’t sustain happiness. The only thing that is real, is LOVE.
Sure get out and enjoy the sunsets. Read a good book. Take care of your body. And if you wish to be loved, how do you wish to be loved? Be that. Do that. If you are waiting for someone—your twin flame, your soul mate—BE your twin flame. BE your soul mate.
Always kiss goodnight! Don’t hold grudges! Hold your loved ones instead! What do you get out of toeing the ground when it comes to silly-nilly arguments with your loved ones? The satisfaction of being….right? And even if you are right, does this keep you warm at night? Does it feel as good as genuine hugs and kisses from your loved ones? If you love them, gracefully bow out and let them have this one.
Radical forgiveness. Life got less complicated when I started practicing radical forgiveness. Kind of in line with not holding grudges, except this one is not about them, but all about you. I believe that holding grudges kept us safe from harm back in our caveman days, alerting us to possible danger of those who intended future harm based on their past behavior. But the truth is that in this day and age of enlightenment, the best way for you to get over your grudge is to forgive.
Forgiveness frees your heart and mind from the shackles that chain you to outdated, ego-centered paradigms. Every night before you go to bed, forgive someone who has hurt you during the day. If no one has, think of someone from your past whom you may not have forgiven yet. I believe it is best to assume everyone operates from their best intentions. So, visualize them in their light, and just for sake of feeling better, assume that they are operating from their own highest and best self. Even if they have hurt you, it is not a reflection of their true self. You have to assume that at all times, everyone is doing their best, with what they know, with the resources available to them.
LOVE YOUR BODY! Take a moment right now to stop and express gratitude for all that your body does for you! What an amazing machine! If you are healthy, it carries you from day to day, pumping blood, oxygen and prana throughout without you having to think about it. If you are not healthy, you may have to think about it…but the truth of the matter is that your body works hard to make sure your soul has the experience it intended when YOU (Big You) decided to incarnate in this physical reality. The least you can do is to show it some nurturing care. Your soul needs your body to carry out its mission and if you are not taking care of your physical needs, you are missing the point of your spiritual purpose! Show some love by bathing daily, exercise and eating wholesome food choices. Breath work is so important for vitality and enjoying time outdoors reconnects you to your natural self!
Love your mind! Learn something new every day! If you disagree with something, try to see the other side. If nothing else, at least you will know what the other side is thinking and will be more informed when it comes time to (intelligently) express why you disagree with a particular *thing.* Debate is lovable. Arguing is steeped in lower vibrations and not healthy. Learn how to have a healthy debate so that you can love like there is no tomorrow!
TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM! Never miss an opportunity to tell your loved ones that you love them! Goes without saying. But actions speak louder than words and to that end, never miss an opportunity to SHOW your loved ones that you love them! Paying attention to them when they are in the room with you, doing things that let them know you listen and care like small tokens of affection, giving space when needed, playing their favorite country songs when you really want to listen rock and roll…these small investments bring massive return in your relationship love tanks.
And I want to leave by quoting my favorite band ever:
“In the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.”~Beatles
Detox diets are very trendy, and I have long been an advocate for clean eating, as opposed to the more typical *binge and purge* lifestyle of loading up on toxic, processed foods and then spending the weekend at the spa. The truth is that we are exposed to toxins on a daily basis—in the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink…and even though we may try our hardest to avoid them we are even exposed to toxins like EMFs and other chemicals in our very own homes. So, this recipe is super nutritious, delicious and lends gentle detox support for your body, and you can enjoy it every day if you wish!
By the way, I absolutely love, love, love how I feel when I drink this blend--full of energy, peppy, happy and vibrant! Seriously high vibe living!!!
Of course all ingredients should be organic and clean. Cilantro is a known detoxifier, stimulating the body’s release of mercury, lead and other heavy metal toxins. The thing about cilantro is that most people either absolutely love it
or positively hate it
. This is because different people process its scent differently—it all has to do with brain wiring and evolution
. Regardless, the effects cilantro has on the body are nothing short of miraculous! Plus, the great thing about this recipe is that the taste is blended with the other ingredients, so it is not too overpowering, (but I happen to love cilantro, though.) The rest of the ingredients in this smoothie recipe are known gentle detox foods, too, so overall, it makes for a super duper start to your day! RECIPE:
Blend the following ingredients in your magic bullet or blender.
2 ice cubes1 bunch cilantro, stems and leaves4 ripe Strawberries ½ an Avocado (for healthy fat and gives it a creamy smooth consistency.)1/3 c Hemp milk for protein2 tsp. ground flax seed ¼ c Greek yogurtENJOY! I hope you love it as much as I do!
Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe? Leave a comment in the space below and share the LOVE!!!!
If you are having difficulty staying focused on the "here and now", you have energy leaks. If you are constantly experiencing lower level vibrational frequencies, you have energy leaks. If you feel "stuck" without a vision, you have energy leaks.
Energy leaks cut off your natural flow and if not kept in check, the feelings of "dis-ease" associated with energy leaks will manifest in disease!
Bringing them into your field of awareness will help you to begin repairing them.
GRATITUDE SYNERGISTIC BLEND
Uplifting, smart and rich. Primarily used in aromatherapy to increase joy and sharpen the mind, is powerfully protective, both magically and physically. Energetically speaking, this aroma can help you to make wise decisions, and because it helps to increase abundance, I am using it as my primary scent in this blend.
Frankincense-- 10 drops
Used in ancient temples as an offering to the gods. I chose this aroma because it is a symbol of my faith, and I offer it to you.
Uplifting and bright. This citrusy scent cleanses a space of negativity and is often used to banish depression.
Another scent that was an offering to the gods. This scent harnesses the power of the now in that it aids in calming your fears or doubts about the future.
Sambac blooms in evening, grandiflorum blooms in the morning. Both are considered aphrodisiacs but grandiflorum is smooth, extremely intense floral smell that is both sweet and lingering.
I chose this scent as a reminder of the sweetness of life. Jasmine absolute is used to treat depression, insomnia, nervous tension and infertility. Its aroma is soothing and calming and can bring about a restful state to those who are suffering from emotional trauma. There are different kinds of jasmine, and it can be a bit pricey, so use ylang ylang as a suitable sub.
Basil has a warm slightly spicy slightly sweet, uplifting aroma and I chose it because of its association with prosperity. Also, the leaves of basil look like hearts and this herb has long been used in love magic. Ideal for a gratitude blend!
Black Pepper--2 drops
Pepper is powerfully protective and kicks everything up a notch!
Rose quartz chip, citrine chip-1 small chip each
Rose quartz for unconditional love and citrine to keep energetically “fresh”
Combine all oils in a clean glass bottle as you consider living with an attitude of gratitude and how you have a thankful heart.
This makes a synergistic blend which you can then choose to add vodka (80 proof or higher), distilled water or a carrier oil depending on your desire to create either a spray or oil. I recommend you let this synergy blend sit for a few hours before adding to anything else, as the scents will meld together and grow more powerful.
Thank you for being you! Namaste!
October 29, 2012 is the night of the Blood Moon. This moon gets its name in part because of its association with menstrual cycles and the shedding of blood from a woman's uterus. Of course, the full moon completes a cycle, delivering on intentions that were made earlier at the onset of its waxing phase. But tonight's full moon, the Blood Moon, is all about shedding what no longer serves us.
Step outside and you can feel the change in the air--the cool, crisp autumn atmosphere in which the leaves give us a brilliant show before falling from the trees. The moon, the weather, the turning of the Wheel of the Year...these energies are perfect for focusing on the transitions that may be occurring in your own life.
You may have heard the old saying cliche that the only constant is change. If we don’t embrace changes, we get left behind. When our way of life changes and we are unwilling to adapt to the new ways, even though the new ways are better for us, we become frustrated and angry. Some people refuse to change their ways because they believe, whether subconsciously or not, that there are benefits to remaining where they are. For instance, smoking is a bad habit because it causes illness and disease, inhibits the natural functions of life force energy and not to mention the fact it is a smelly and disgusting thing for others to have to put up with. But for one who is addicted to nicotine, who is set in their ways and who believes they can not change there are loads of benefits in choosing to continue smoking.
Taking the time to acclimate to changes can be hard on anyone. Letting go of the old rules and adjusting to the new paradigms requires effort. If you are going through transformation, you have to be flexible and willing to change. You can’t keep doing things the same way and expect different results. Simply allow yourself to trust in the process of transition. Merge into the changes gracefully and expect a few slow starts along the way. Most importantly, though, open to the possibilities and promise of what the outcome may be.
Here is a heart-to-heart video on my Blood Moon musings and how you can use the transitional energies of this time of year to assist you in your own changes.
Me and my daughter enjoying a hearty Group Belly Laugh at a laughter session!
I was rushing the other day to get to our Lughnasadh celebration and it seemed like nothing was going right. I left a basket of food on the counter and didn't realize it until we arrived to the party. So I drove back to the house to get it. The boys followed me into the house and I asked one of them to carry it out to the car while I checked to make sure I had everything else. He passed it off to his brother, and unbeknownst to me, the basket was left on the porch.
So, we were half way to our destination--again!--when they remembered their mistake. I breathed a deep sigh, turned on the blinker and pulled the car to the side of the road, erupting in a fit of laughter. Both boys looked at me like I was insane, but it helped me to release my frustration!
When things don’t go as we wish, we are often advised to just go with the flow. But for many of us, that is hard to do! In my laughter yoga teacher training, I learned about something that can help. It is the concept of the “inner spirit of laughter.”
The inner spirit of laughter is about so much more than just laughing or just yoga--the inner spirit of laughter is a state of mind that allows one the ability to stay positive when everything seems challenging. It can improve physical health and help to release negative thoughts. From my own experience and from listening to others, I know that negative thoughts can crystalize and take physical form! So, when things don’t go your way, you can either laugh or cry. I have found that laughing is the path of least resistance and offers better outcomes!
As a sales manager, I was in a state of constant worry--I was constantly stressed about money and image and meeting goals and yet, everything that I was afraid of came true. It is no secret that I have met my own extreme challenges in life, including the fact that I lost my job, my house, my car, and my family went through a devastating separation. In the process, my children and I became homeless, living with kind family members. I found myself literally starting over at the bottom with nothing but each other.
After I realized my worst fears, I began to feel extreme guilt. Fear and guilt are two the two most paralyzing emotions anyone can experience because they keep you mired in murky muck, unable to move forward in life. Although I started to rebuild my life, I was still scared and harboring feelings of guilt. I sought a therapist to help me through this time of insecurity. It was after all of this happened that I found laughter yoga, and it was timely for me, occurring as if on cue. If I had not gone through these extreme challenges, I wouldn’t have taken my training in laughter yoga as seriously as I have.
You see, laughter yoga helped me to re-train myself to laugh for no reason. For me, it was a remembering of who I am. As a child, my nickname was Giggles because I would and could laugh at anything and had a happy-go-lucky attitude of grace (but that is another blog post!) I remembered with laughter yoga that when you find yourself in a challenging situation, if you can laugh openly, for no reason at all, you will trigger your mind to overcome difficult situations more easily.
Laughter yoga goes beyond laughter. It trains your body & mind to respond to challenges in a more productive manner. I remember how, before laughter yoga, I lived in a constant state of lack and scarcity, and because it was the core of my subconscious mind at the time, I actually manifested loss of everything for myself. I am of the belief that your thought forms create your physical reality and it is important to watch what you think about. Laughter yoga has helped me to retrain my mind and body to respond differently to negative thoughts and feelings. My training in laughter yoga has opened up channels for me to express my fears in a productive way, allowing me to face them head on and deal with them, instead of burying them and worrying about them all the time.
The surprise in all of this is that cultivating an inner spirit of laughter helped me to reconnect to my spiritual side. Yoga is Sanskrit for “to connect,” and in context, means to connect to the Higher Self. When we are connected to our Higher Self, things flow more easily in our lives! But yoga can also connect us to others and build community. When you laugh you raise your own vibration and others pick up on it—it is contagious and infectious and you soon begin to see that the Inner Spirit of Laughter promotes community building. The exercises I teach in a laughing session bring us to that mental state of appreciation because this is the space in which we connect with others, and they are really profound and life changing.
With laughter, I have gone from an attitude based on fear and ego to one of appreciation and gratitude. I find my days starting a little brighter, waking every morning and feeling appreciation for every little thing. The inner spirit of laughter has helped me to recognize the little things that make life a big deal!
Whenever you find yourself in a challenging situation, just laugh! I would LOVE to teach you how!
